Cant receive workstation microphone working?

When my microphone wouldn't work, I eventually found that it was set to use a front panel jack - even though that wasn't if truth be told connected!

right click on the volume icon within the taskbar

select Open volume control

options, properties - check Microphone - OK

option, advanced controls...

click on the microphone's advanced button

make sure that 'Front panel microphone' is unchecked. Close.
Even the best of us can miss this, hold you checked in the mixer, to see if the mike mute is checked?
it might be dependent on your microphone. if it's a common, standard pc mic for only just general chit chat near ur pc afterwards make sure that your soundcard (if it's onboard presumable ac97 chipset) is update beside correct drivers. always brand sure that it's unmuted and wave volume settings are also unmuted. goto your soundcard settings and check within the properties that an input function is actually live.

if however you have a clothed mic, for recording purposes, you may own found that your old soundcard have a preamp function, in which it raise the gain level of the microphone. if the microphone does require pre-amplication, you won't hear it on an onboard soundcard probably.
