I only just got a Vista Hp Laptop, and it used to read cds (I installed a winter sport and ripped some music) but now it doesn't see it surrounded by my computer and there is no style for it to read a cd. Please help!
Cd drive given up the ghost!?
hp have been have this issue with vista / and cd /dvd drives
the fix is fairly easy
walk start >run type regedit and choose HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Curr...
+++then look for this key
4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002B...
consequently delete value LowerFilters
and restart your computer
bring it rear, buy a mac.
its a short poem I wrote just for you.
Go to Start, afterwards Run, and type diskmgmt.msc in the box and click OK. Check to see if the drive is planned there but does not hold a letter assigned. If specifically the case, assign it a drive message.
You probably installed software that blocked it. Try doing a system restore and see what happens. This happen to me.
Vista has problems close to this designed right into it. If the operating system decides that a piece of your hardware is a indemnity risk for digital rights infringement, it will disable that hardware, and this can happen at any time. I'm not motto for sure that this is what happened to you, but you DID rip music near it.
Is the drive removable? If so, you might try rebooting the system with the drive removed, later rebooting again with the drive reinstalled, to see if the OS will re-enable it.
Or you could wipe that Vista excrescence stale your hard drive and install Linux instead, which is what I'd do within your shoes.
