CD/DVD drive aint reading any discs why?

Might be CDROM lens have be weakened after the completion of the warranty extent. Then you need to buy a topical one.
try updating the firmware if still no luck buy new dvd burner geeks.com or newegg.com enjoy some cheap deals.
If the drive purely doesn't work all of a sudden, it might be because the notebook have been dropped. Something inside is probably messed up. If you enjoy the notebook under warranty still you can ring up in. Don't report to them you dropped it... :)

You can have a techie look at it since you consider replacing the drive.
it is buggered get a untried drive

or check all connections within the tower
get your brother to buy you a current computer!!!
might be because of ur brother dropping ur PC.. it may damageed the lens of ur cd roms.. u nid to do is to return it where uve purchased it if its stills cover the warranty interval then gud for u but if its not .. u better enlighten ur brother that he got to buy the a exotic cd/dvd ROM
most likely,if the device inspector sees it it channel that is near but it doesn't work anymore ,try to swap it to find out,if it still not working I don`t know the motherboard has be damaged.
