is it worth it? (notice a difference)
I own a friend with a ecompass(ecomputer) somthing....
it have a 2.6ghz processor in it,
I enjoy a dell 1.8ghz pentium 4,
can I change them near no problem?
would it be worth it?
thanks
shifting 1.8ghz p4 processor for 2.6ghz celeron?
Hm... A 1.8GHz P4 have 256KB of cache. As Intel released faster chips, they also increased the cache, so a 2.6GHz P4 has 512KB of cache. They also released models next to 128KB cache as Celerons.
So we are comparing:
1.8GHz 256KB L2 cache
2.6GHz 128KB L2 cache
That's a good request for information. I would think the much sophisticated clock speed would make up for the lower amount of cache contained by most workloads, but without looking at benchmarks I wouldn't be sure. They might enjoy them in the archives of Tom's Hardware's CPU charts.
Whether or not it is possible to use that processor contained by your computer depends on which socket the motherboard uses. They are most likely both Socket 478 so you should hold no problem. A bios update for your motherboard may be required, but I doubt it.
You would most likely discern a difference, but you will need to particularly research whether or not the motherboard in your computer, and it's BIOS chip (Basic Input/Output System) supports the foreign processor. You will need to gain technical specifications for the motherboard from the businesswoman; your computer will display the BIOS version on bootup. If the motherboard supports the processor, but your BIOS revision does not, you can update ("flash") the BIOS to the latest edition that supports the new processor. The BIOS updating software should be available from the businessman of the motherboard.
