can i chnge my memory cards from 256mb ddr-400mhz 18 pin to 512mb ddr2-667mhz? or to 512mb ddr2-533mhz? thankfulness!

No, you cannot. DDR2 will not fit surrounded by a DDR slot (logically, it would fit... but it won't work...)
If the slot supports DDR2, then yes you can... but if it have DDR in it, likelihood are VERY good that it doesn't support DDR2.
