I want to Upgrade my Memory(RAM) what will I lose when I Upgrade? Will it be files, programs? Is anything stored on it?
Thank You.
Computer Memory Upgrade Question?
Ok first, everyone is right. RAM does not store anything.
Next, you should other backup your crucial files before working on a computer. If you are doing this upgrade yourself. I would def stern things up. Some people a moment ago dive right in. No offense, but if you own to ask this question. You should fund up before you work on it.
Check your motherboards specifications also. Find out what memory will work next to your MB. Are you adding a stick or are you completely replacing what you enjoy. Will what you are getting work with your current memory, if you are count. If you are replacing, again make sure you MB can feel it. Also Make sure the amount you are getting is supported by your MB. Some Motherboards will only see x amount of RAM.
RAM does not contain any information once power is turned rotten. So you will not lose any files or programs.
You can find out what kind of hit (memory) your computer needs at http://www.crucial.com and it will automatically trial your system and tell you what you requirement and have surrounded by the computer (each slot).
You can get cheap memory at http://www.tigerdirect.com or http://www.newegg.com
you will lose money.
you will loose nil when you upgrade RAM chips
Only the time it takes to install the memory.
Nothing is stored within RAM. Your files, programs, data, messages, etc. are all stored on your computer's complicated drive. Changing RAM has no effect at adjectives on the hard drive, so move about ahead with your RAM upgrade (checking at crucial.com is a GREAT perception, BTW) and don't worry just about your data.
