i own a 4 year old gateway laptop, it have always be fast and moral, but all of the sudden sooner or later it takes 5 minutes to take booted up( usually 2 minutes max), the mouse cursor lags and as i type right now the post are coming a second after i type them. It lags when i open up the start tab.....i downloaded spybot force out and destroy and found 15 problems...i fixed them adjectives but it didnt change the line, can some1 plz shed some light on this....i also used the diskdefragmenter and nought changed..plz help.

scan for spyware (use more than one scanner) and viruses is a biddable start. also try running msconfig. click start, then run and type contained by msconfig. go to selective startup. it will display adjectives the programs that run upon booting. uncheck the ones you don't want running. this can help profusely, but make sure you're comfortable playing around next to the system setting first. if you're not, ask someone for help.
you should check the problem, move about to best buy, and geek squad will take thoroughness of you
do you have any anti-virus software? avg by grisoft is free, run that and check for virus, also run it in undisruptive mode
