Suddenly this device disappeared. I booted into nontoxic mode and it worked fine. i have tied adjectives of the normal stuff...
- uninstalled next scanning for hardware change.
- looking for updated drivers.
any sugestions what i should try next?
disc Drive next to Error 39 surrounded by hardware profile XP laptop... works within protected mode?
After you remove any compact disc (CD) recording software or other software from your computer, your computer may exhibit the following behavior:
o In My Computer, nearby is no access to your CDs.
o In Device Manager, the one of the error message that appears in nouns with any CD-ROM device i.e. part of your computer system:
"error code 39" message that indicates that the driver is corrupted.
Install the drivers of the disc ROM by any one of the following methods:-
1. Install it from the floppy / CD htat acompaneis the drive
2. Reinstall the up-to-the-minute Service pack of your Operating system
3. Download "Everest Free Edition" from
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.h...
Install the application and run it. On the left foot pane, click on Storage and then on Optical Drives.
Select the optical drive from the right paw pane and at the botton of the right hand pane, you will find a join against "Firmware Download". Click on this link and download the hottest drivers of your CD Drive.
Reboot your PC and this should resolve your problem.
